About the performance

The workshop is addressed to those dreaming of theatre – to those who believe that anyone can act, especially with a puppet made with your own hands.
Creating the paper figures will only take an hour. Then we will learn how to animate them – in other words, we will find out what the puppets can do and what we are capable of. The puppets will tell us themselves what stories to show on stage.
At the end of the workshop, we will watch a couple of videos about puppets that actively promote social integration.

The Bielsko Artistic Association Grodzki Theatre
Grodzki Theatre has been present at the International Festival of Puppetry Art for many years now. Its goal is to counteract discrimination, find the right methods of interpersonal communication, and recommend ways of coping with daily problems. The regular practice and underlying idea behind Grodzki Theatre is organising workshops and preparing shows in cooperation with people with disabilities. The actors on stage are often accompanied by puppets made of simple materials at cooperative workshops. The mission of the International Festival of Puppetry Art has always been the promotion of puppet theatre among professional and amateur enthusiasts of this form of art, which is why Grodzki Theatre is a key part of the festival programme in each edition.

The workshop will be hosted by Maria Schejbal-Cytawa – theatrologist, co-founder of the Bielsko Artistic Association Grodzki Theatre.
